Roots.

My grandfather likes to enjoy a glass of wine now and then. At least, that's what the claim is; he'll gladly accept a glass when my father offers it to him, and will get some himself if there's an open bottle. It's funny, though, because whenever he takes a sip, he'll shut his eyes tightly, as if wincing in pain.

This reaction is a habit from drinking alcohol in India, where it contains a variety of unnatural items (rat poison, battery acid, etc., my father said) that result in something that smells terrible, aside from the obviously bad health effects.

We tease him about it, but I don't think he'll ever stop wincing in past pain as he enjoys his wine.
